BREAKFAST PROGRAM: The goal of the breakfast program is to allow children who would otherwise not be able to do so to start their day off with a good meal. We feed 65 children three days a week at 7:00 in the morning. Many of the moms of the children are single and very poor. It is obviously very difficult for them to feed their children by themselves and to be around to take care of them. Many of the fathers who are around do not help with the income. Many are heavy drinkers and actually take away from the family by using money to buy alcohol. Because of conditions like these, many of the children go to school without
breakfast and are not able to focus while they are at school because they are hungry. Some go without food for entire days, and are, therefore, malnourished.
The mission of the breakfast program is to nourish these children both physically and spiritually. The physical nutrition comes, of course, from breakfast and the spiritual nutrition comes from a devotional we do each morning before we eat. God has also provided us with some medicine that we have been able to use when the children are sick. Through providing for these children like this, they are experiencing the love of Christ and some of them have received Christ into their hearts. We give thanks to God because He is touching the hearts of these children. This is the very hope that we had for this work and, ultimately, we do all of this so that these children may come to know Jesus. Thank you for taking an interest in this work and may God bless you for joining us in the work through prayers or financial support. (Beatriz Lipman)
Breakfast consists of one or two rolls (depending on the child's age) and a cup of milk. Once a week, if we can afford it, we give the children some fried fish, yams and/or yucca. They are very happy to get this extra meal! Some of the children in our breakfast program are pictured below. They are available for sponsorship.
Recently we were invited to have breakfast with a supermarket, so we took 50 kids with us from the breakfast program. In one picture you see them drying their hands. It was the first time they ever saw some thing like that. The good thing was - they wanted to wash their hands!

BAKERY: We have started a bakery with the help of First Baptist Church of San Angelo - Texas, from the United States. The purpose of this bakery is to help our brothers and sisters in Christ who are not able to find work to make an honest living to support their families and take care of themselves.
There is a group who works to bake the bread in the night and another group who sells the bread during the day. All of the people who work at the bakery are believers who greatly need the work and the small salary that we are able to provide them through the bakery. We are trying to teach them about how to run a business and teaching them to save some of the money. We set some of the money aside for the kids and encourage them to use the money to buy school supplies, food, clothing and shoes.

BUILDING OUR NEW CHURCH: Praise the Lord! We now have land to build our new church in Pimentel. We are still in need of finances to help pay off the court costs, plus the cost to build the walls around the perimeter of the land, plus the cost to build the church. If you would like to make a much-needed donation, please contact us.
Pimentel is a totally new area where the Gospel has never really been preached before. It is wonderful to see adults getting immersed in the Word during Bible studies, and everyone is very excited that we will have a real church in which to worship.

SPONSOR A CHILD: What our program needs the most is people who would be willing to sponsor a child. Sponsoring a child is only $20 a month, but it will completely change the life of a child. All of the children below currently do not have a sponsor, and are in dire need of one. If you you would like more information please contact Guillermo
Please pray and consider sponsoring a child. Checks can be sent to:
Madeline Beck (Guillermo's mother)
2714 Golfview Ave
Sutherlin, OR 97479
Please make checks payable to SUMC
(please put CBL or LIPMANS on memo line)

MEDICAL OUTREACH: We are able to do medical outreaches only when people come from the United States with qualified professionals. They bring the money to buy medicine here in Peru. We are in desperate need of doctors, registered nurses, and dentists. Many areas receive no medical help and tuberculosis is one of the diseases that can be prevented with medical care. Medicine and qualified medical personnel are needed to fight this outbreak. It is so sad for us to see the people suffering needlessly. Some of them are VERY sick. Please pray for qualified medical personnel to donate their time and resources to the people of Peru.

GRANDMA'S CHRISTMAS FUND: During our 2007 Christmas outreach, we were able to bless 800 kids. For most of them it was the first time they ever had hot chocolate; sadly, most of them don't even know what it is to drink milk at all. It was heart breaking to see the strong, strong need of these people. This year we want to raise funds to reach all of the kids in this area (over 900). For most of them,it will probably be the first time Christmas day was different than any other day of the year. We are calling the fund raiser "Grandma's Christmas Fund" since the fund was started by Guillermo's mother.
HOT CHOCOLATE & BREAD: In 2007, we are bringing hot chocolate and bread, along with a few toys, to needy people in very poor mountainous areas. Some of the comments made by the people last year were "you came from heaven" and "God himself came to our village through you." These poor people were very BLESSED by your donations. Thank you! We were also able to give much-needed medical attention to the people in these areas (see photos above).
If you wish to make a donation for this project, please mark on your check: CHANGED BY LOVE CHRISTMAS PROJECT. Please go to our Contact page for information on making a donation. We appreciate your help, and may God bless you abundantly!!

CHRISTIAN SCHOOL VISITS VILLAGE: The youth of a local Christian school went on a mission trip to the country. (This is the second mission trip they have taken in their seven years as a school.) This group of kids, ages 14 and up, paid their own way and collected clothes and medicine to bring with them. They were even helpful at the church where we stayed. The church was celebrating their anniversary, so the kids sang as a choir.
The kids even cooked their meals on an open fire. It was a fun time seeing how they enjoyed doing missions and how they want to do more.
It was the first mission trip for some of them, but they all want to go again. They did a great job.
The man sleeping is the director of the school. It was neat to have him come and help out. He even treated the kids to soda pop. We joked with him about the picture because it shows him "working hard" but it was great to have the school director with us.
